Lior Frenkel (born 1978) is leader of the Hot Fur Ensemble.
After studying Jazz in 'The Rimon School of Music', Israel, Frenkel
followed his composition studies under the renowned Israeli composer Arie Shapira -
(http://hcc.haifa.ac.il/~ariks).
Later on he moved to the Netherlands where he studied composition in the 'Royal Conservatory' in the Hague.
These days Lior is forming a new band in Berlin, Germany - "The Frenkel Band". The current show - "Meditative Structures", concentrates on the combination between a live ensemble and a computer, triggered by the drums.

Besides leading Hot Fur, Frenkel also composes electronic music using
techniques such as real-time composition and manipulation of ready-made
sounds. Among his electronic albums
is "Pieces from Pieces", released in 2004.
Frenkel also takes on interest in different musical styles such as experimental pop and repetitive structures as a contrast to his guitar solos.
Among the artists who inspired Frenkel's vision of music are Frank Zappa,
Olivier Messiaen, Miles Davis, John Zorn, Eric Dolphy, Debussy, Stravinsky and more. |
